Eldridge Amendment to Aid Devens Historical Museum Passes House

BOSTON - State Rep. Jamie Eldridge announced today that the House of Representatives has passed an amendment to provide $50,000 to the Ft. Devens Historical Museum in order to help preserve the legacy of Fort Devens .  Through its programming, the Devens Hisotrical Museum informs the public about the roles of Camp Devens , Fort Devens , and the present Devens Reserve Forces Training Area in ensuring the military preparedness of the nation and its impact on the surrounding communities.

“I have been greatly pleased to have worked with the Devens Historical Museum and this appropriation is just the first step towards a long standing involvement with the museum to help preserve the history of Devens,” remarked Rep. Eldridge. “This grant will allow the museum to continue its important mission.”

The Fort Devens Museum opened in late 2004 and serves as a resource for the surrounding community and is currently run by executive director Ian Meisner.
