Eldridge Amendment to Aid Devens Historical Museum Passes House
BOSTON - State Rep. Jamie Eldridge announced today that the House of Representatives has passed an amendment to provide $50,000 to the
Ft.
Devens
Historical
Museum in order to help preserve the legacy of
Fort
Devens . Through its programming, the
Devens
Hisotrical
Museum informs the public about the roles of
Camp
Devens ,
Fort
Devens , and the present Devens Reserve Forces Training Area in ensuring the military preparedness of the nation and its impact on the surrounding communities.
“I have been greatly pleased to have worked with the
Devens
Historical
Museum and this appropriation is just the first step towards a long standing involvement with the museum to help preserve the history of Devens,” remarked Rep. Eldridge. “This grant will allow the museum to continue its important mission.”
The
Fort
Devens
Museum opened in late 2004 and serves as a resource for the surrounding community and is currently run by executive director Ian Meisner.
